Tattoo preview editor
Before it goes under the needle: place your lettering right on a photo of your arm, skin or a wall — style, size, rotation and colour all adjustable. Runs entirely on your device, no install, no licence, free.
What it could look like
A few examples for inspiration — tap one to load that combination straight into the editor, to keep experimenting.
Artificially generated example images from this site — not photos of real customers or real tattoos.
Upload your own photo
JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MB. Fill the frame with the lettering, light it evenly, no flash.
The photo is only ever processed in your browser — it never leaves your device, not even for the preview.

Or: live preview via camera
The camera image is processed only locally in your browser, live, frame by frame — nothing is recorded or transmitted unless you click "download preview" yourself. Access ends as soon as you stop the camera or leave the page.
Layers
Grab the lettering right on the image and drag it — with a mouse or a finger.
A transparent PNG with no photo — for printing, tracing, or handing to a tattoo artist, always in black regardless of the preview colour.
The digit convention
| you type | 2 | 3 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| you get | ء | ع | خ | ط | ح | غ | ق |
This convention grew out of Arabic chat because the digits resemble the letters — 7 and ح, for instance.
Pick a look
One click sets script, colour and ink so they work together. You can still adjust everything afterwards.

Preview and reality
A screen never shows the actual ink: colour and contrast look different on a display than on skin, and freshly tattooed lines change again while healing (2–4 weeks) — they can darken, spread slightly, or read differently depending on skin tone. This preview is orientation for placement, style and rough size, not a binding final result. Show your artist the preview as a starting point for the conversation, test the lettering size beforehand — printed at real scale or as henna on yourself — and have them confirm the final execution before you go under the needle.
Upload a photo, have the characters checked
For everyone who does not have the text as a file: a tattooed arm, an engraving, a draft from the tattooist. The characters are recognised and run through the same check as typed text.
JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MB. Fill the frame with the lettering, light it evenly, no flash.
The image is recognized entirely in your browser and is never uploaded to this or any other server.
What the recognition read
No verdict can rest on this result
The recognised sequence is too uncertain or does not form an Arabic word. Machine recognition regularly fails on calligraphy and on script on skin — and sometimes reads Arabic characters in reverse order. So you deliberately do not get an “all clear” here: a false clean bill would be worse than none at all.
No photo at hand? Type the text directly
Better to check it yourself than send us photos
We're not a tattoo studio and we don't collect other people's photos — so everything here stays self-service. Just type the text into the check instead: it reads it just as reliably as a photo, and nothing ever leaves your device.
A photo the recognition can handle
- Lettering fills the frame, phone about a hand span away
- Even light from the side, no flash — flash reflects off skin
- Camera parallel to the lettering, not at an angle from above
- Skin pulled flat; lettering over a curve distorts the letters
- Wait with fresh tattoos: redness and swelling distort the outline
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos stored or uploaded anywhere?
No. Recognition runs entirely in the browser (Tesseract.js) — no photo ever leaves your device, there is no server upload.
Which calligraphy styles can I place on my photo?
Six styles are available, and you can also adjust the size, rotation and color of the text before comparing the result.
Can I also use this to check a tattoo I already have?
Yes — photo recognition reads the text out of the image and runs it through the same technical check as typed text.
Before the appointment
What genuinely makes a difference for script tattoos and henna.
Henna kit for a trial run
Lasts about two weeks and washes off. The only way to see lettering on your own arm before it becomes permanent.

Pure henna without added PPD stains more slowly, but without the irritation risk of "black henna".

Transfer paper for stencils
Transfers the design cleanly onto skin. Crucial for lettering: even a tiny distortion ruins the letter shapes.
View on Amazon Aftercare oil for henna and fresh tattoos
Keeps the colour bold for longer and helps prevent the outline fading early.
